CDP to Revolutionize Horticulture Sector in Himachal Pradesh, Says CM
SHIMLA- In a major development, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced the implementation of the Cluster Development Programme (CDP) to transform the horticulture ecosystem in Himachal Pradesh.
Recognizing the significant role of the horticulture sector in the state's economy, the CDP aims to enhance livelihood opportunities for farmers and integrate them into national and global value chains.
By creating cluster-specific brands, the program will enable farmers to fetch higher remuneration for their produce, reducing post-harvest losses and ensuring better prices.
Chief Minister Sukhu emphasized that the cluster-based approach will enhance production, post-harvest management, marketing, and branding of horticulture crops.
The implementation of the CDP is expected to bring about a significant transformation in the horticulture sector of Himachal Pradesh.
The cluster development agency, appointed by the Himachal Pradesh State Agricultural Marketing Board, will address farmers' queries and concerns, ensuring the success of the program.
The State Horticulture Department will act as the nodal agency for the CDP's implementation, coordinating with the National Horticulture Board.
The Himachal Pradesh Marketing and Processing Corporation (HPMC) will serve as the implementing agency, working closely to realize the program's goals.
This groundbreaking initiative is expected to revolutionize the state's horticulture sector, providing a significant boost to farmers' income and reshaping the horticulture landscape of Himachal Pradesh.
